2018 Baseball Signup & Tryouts

Chelmsford Youth Baseball Signup & Tryouts

I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer. Although many of the players and parents are ready for a little break from spring/summer baseball we need to make plans for the 2018 spring season.  We will be having our Majors A (Ages 10-12) ,Senior Majors A (Ages 13-15) and EBL Tryouts (10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U) all at the same time. This way your child doesn’t have to come down to the field and tryout multiple different times. However for EBL there may be a 2nd tryout date to make sure the number of quality players is there.

The tryouts will be on Saturday September 9th (10 AM – 2 PM) and Sunday September 10th (12 PM – 3 PM). Registration for Majors A, Senior Majors A and EBL is open online at www.chelmsfordyouthbaseball.org  If you are an existing Majors A or Senior Majors A you only need to come to the tryouts if you are trying out for one of the EBL teams.  For the EBL tryout. Please register online so we have an expectation of how many players are attending the EBL tryout. You do not have to make the full payment to register.

If you aren’t familiar with EBL it is the New England Elite baseball league.  This is a competitive league were teams play against AAU/Elite teams throughout New England.  Our teams the past 4 years have been very competitive. The main focus is on player development and the teams start practicing indoors in January. The private AAU/Elite programs typically range between $2500 and $3000 for this type of program.  The CYB Lions program is almost one third of the cost.  By playing the Chelmsford based EBL teams the Majors A and Senior Majors A schedules are flexed around their schedules so the players get to play more games.

If you have any questions about any of the programs please E-Mail the following people

Majors A – Bill Arrington –

Senior Majors A – Bob Alber -

EBL (Elite Baseball League) – Sean Connor -

2018 Baseball Bat Rule Changes

New Cal Ripkin/Babe Ruth

Bat Rules

There is a lot of confusion and misinformation out regarding the new bat rules for 2018.  There are also a lot of baseball bat sales going on right now.  The CYB BOD advise right now is to hold tight and NOT purchase any bat at this time.  We are a chartered Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken program and fully expect that our program will be subject to the rules of those organizations.  We expect that the USA Baseball rules (the organization that oversees all amateur baseball in the US and is developing the rules for bats) will be adopted by BR/CR.

We will continue to follow developments and keep our membership informed as to what is adopted and how it impacts you and our program.

As of right now, it appears that 2017 non-wood 2 1/4 diameter marked BPF 1.15 will NOT be legal in 2018.

So please watch for announcements from CYB regarding this issue.  We'll keep you up to date with any rule changes that are implemented.
